Figgy Flourish

Hello Friends!
My card today was made for two SCS challenges. First, yesterday's color challenge, SCS CC648, to use Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Fresh Fig and Vanilla. I subbed white for vanilla.
The second was today's sketch challenge, SC658.

It took me a while to get a combination of the sketch and the colors that was pleasing to my eye. I cut the flourish in all three colors, tried the negative, had two different card base colors & multiple color combos of layer 2 and 3.  I just kept trying different arrangements until I came up with this. I have been CASEing most of my cards from Pinterest & so my own design mojo has taken a long holiday. I really enjoyed the process & why I wanted to get back to the challenges. I didn't get even a little frustrated but rather I just enjoyed the organic nature of creating something on my own. My own kind of challenge to resist frustration, if you know what I mean!

Thanks for stopping & have a great day!

Prima Pansies

Happy Monday Friends!
I created this card for two Splitcoaststampers (SCS) challenges. The first challenge was last week's sketch challenge (SC657) shown below.

The second challenge is today's Technique Lovers Challenge (TLC651) to emboss ribbon. This technique was a new SCS tutorial found here  & I thought I'd give it a whirl. Here is a close-up of the ribbon. Very subtle, but I like it!
Thanks for stopping! Have a great day!!

FS545 Floral Anniversary

Happy Sunday, friends!
I'm sharing my card for the Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper Challenge #545 (SCS FS545). Julie, our hostess this week, chose Cindy, the "Weekend Warrior". Cindy has an awesome gallery & I had a difficult time choosing just one card, but I need several anniversary cards so I chose this card to case. I used my relatively new stamp set from Simon Says Stamp from the June kit of the month. I absolutely adored these SSS kits- great stamp set, papers, & this June kit had a new oxide ink.
I chose to use retired Lovely Lilac SU paper as this card will be for my SIL whose favorite color is lavender/purple. I colored with numerous copic markers. Used my Lovely Lilac marker & spritzer tool to splash the background with a little color.

Stamps
Floral Bliss (SSS); Express Yourself (SU)
Paper
Lovely Lilac (SU Retired); Watercolor paper

Masculine Birthday- SC652 & F4A384

Hi there! I hope my American friends enjoyed their 4th of July holiday. We celebrated with family on Saturday with BBQ- a true American 7/4 tradition. So yesterday was low key for us.

I made this card earlier today~ it took me forever! I'm not used to making original designs since the advent of Pinterest. For the past few years, I had been copying other designers because I was always in such a rush. Well, now that I've retired (woo-hoo!), I have time to make originals again and participate in the card challenges which I thoroughly enjoy.

This card is for my Brother-in-law's birthday. I used the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge (SC652) and the Free for All challenge (F4A384) to use a background stamp. I really like this retired DSP which has that wonderful retired color, River Rock. Great colors & paper for guy cards, don't you think?

My supplies are listed below:

Stamps
Guy Greetings, Weathered (SU); HB sentiment: (Stamping Sensations)
Paper
Cajun Craze, River Rock (retired); DSP:Well Worn (retired)- all SU
Paper Size
A2
Ink
Cajun Craze (SU)
Accessories
Duet Banner punch (SU), chestnut mini glitter brads (Amer.Crafts)

Thanks so much for stopping!

CTS #226- Masculine Card

Here3's my take on the Case this Sketch Challenge #226. I made this card for my FIL (father in law) who served in the Navy way back in the day as he will be 91years old in July.

All the products I used are retired from SU except the cardstock. I must say how happy I am that I have some of these classic masculine stamp sets. I really need more guy cards and my sister has "commissioned" masculine cards so I will make a few using this design with a birthday sentiment.

As some of you know I recently retired & I am trying to get the hang of it. My routine for challenges and card making is still evolving. I have been spending most of my mornings with a new exercise routine, which I love, and so now need to figure how to add the crafty thing to my routine.

Thanks for stopping by; have a great day!
