Rustic Rooster's Color Challenge

This card is for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge which is posted each Tuesday. Today's colors are Bravo Burgandy, So Saffron and Handsome Hunter. The image is from a new hostess stamp set which will be available with the new Stampin' Up catalog release on January 19th.
Nothing tricky with this card just masking over the rooster and stamping with So Saffron with the french script stamp also in the Rustic Rooster set. The coin and burgandy background stamp are also from this hostess set.
I sure am going to have fun with this set as roosters are so hot this year! and this rooster that SU! made is perfectly detailed. Great for coloring with markers, pencils, chalks or just single inked images like this one today.
Gotta' run- thanks for looking!

Wassail Cardinal

Here is another simple card using the Wassail DSP from Basic Grey. I love these elegant papers for their sheer beauty but also because I can still make a special creation without spending hours. Time savers are especially important this time of year when I try to cram a whole lot of fun with family and friends and still find time for shopping, baking and otherwise spoiling the people I love. (did I mention working too? LOL)

We also love cardinals at our home~ Spring and Summer time baseball Cardinals are our favorites, and holiday cardinal images are great for sending to our fellow St. Louis friends.

For this card, I stamped the cardinal from the new SU set, A Cardinal Christmas in Riding Hood Red on vanilla cardstock that was cut using rectangle nestabilities. I masked the cardinal and sponged with always artichoke and mellow moss.

Recipe as follows:
Stamps: A Cardinal Christmas, Lots of Thoughts (Stampin' Up)
Papers: Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, Vanilla (Stampin' Up), Wassail (Basic Grey)
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, Mellow Moss
Accessories: Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders)

Have a great Tuesday! Marilyn

Welcome!

Welcome to my new Blog and my very first posting. I am excited to be entering into this world of blogging. One of my favorite websites for sharing ideas on cardmaking is Splitcoaststampers. It was here I was first exposed to blogs. Many of the artists on this site have blogs where they share the details of their work. So after a little bit of research, I decided to take the plunge. This is a work in progress as I plan to learn as I go.

I am posting a quick card I made using Stampin' Up designer series paper, Ski Slope. I love paper, especially designer paper thus the name of my blog. I come by this love honestly as my father's profession was sales for a paper distributor. We always had lots of paper products and paper ribbons in my childhood home. I started playing with papers at a very young age!

All products by Stampin' Up and here's the recipe:
Stamps: Big on Christmas
Paper: Old Olive CS, Ski Slope Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Black, Markers-Red, Old Olive, Summer Sun, Close to Cocoa
Ribbon: 5/8" Old Olive grosgrain, 1" double stitched Chocolate Chip
