Lace Valentine

I absolutely LOVE Valentine's Day, making v-day cards and little treat packages for others. The pinks and reds are so pretty with ribbon and sparkles. I hope to make quite a few cards for all the people that bless my life. So here is one I made Friday night using a lace paper heart and scrapbboking papers I found in the Target $1 bin. {{Those one dollar bins are like cash magnets for me...I always find so many cute and trendy things that I can use with my paper crafting. I've tried to take the approach of only purchasing immediately needed supplies but, well, you know...}} Anyway, the sketch was from last Saturday's Paper Craft Planet Scrap challenge posted. My favorite challenges are the sketch and color challenges.
Recipe:
Stamps: Polka Dot Punches (Stampin'Up)
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Pixie Pink (Stampin'Up); DP & Lace Heart: Scrapbooking Valentine Collection (Target)

Baja Pizzaz

The Splitcoaststampers weekly color challenge is so much fun. And today was especially delightful as the chosen colors were my favorites. The blues - Baja Breeze and Pacific Point with Garden Green. I used one of the new SU! catalog's stamp set called Petal Pizzaz. It has a funky retro look. The Rock 'n Roll technique was used for the large flower; inked up the stamp with the lighter, Baja Breeze, and then rolled the edges on the darker Pacific Point ink pad.

All supplies from Stampin' Up.
Stamps: Petal Pizzaz
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, Garden Green, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, Garden Green, Brillant Blue Marker
Accessories: 1" double stitched grosgrain ribbon, 1/16" hole punch, 3/4" circle punch, dimensionals
Techniques: Rock 'n Roll, Masking, distressing/sponging

I've been keeping up with the Project 365 and will post those pages in the days to come. This is such a cool project~ I can't wait to share the pages with you!
We had quite a bit of snow today in the St. Louis area. Most schools were closed including my daughters. I was fortunate to be able to work from home today.
Stay warm!

Project 365

I started my own Project 365. Creating Keepsakes ran an article by Becky Higgins featuring an idea called Project 365. Document an entire year one day at a time by taking pictures and writing a short journal entry each day. Sounds crazy, but it really appealed to me. So often we (or maybe it is only me ) document the big events in our lives through pictures, videos, scrapbook pages etc. but fail to document the ordinary, every day things in our lives. Well, CK even offered a product in their 'Kit of the Month" which sold out in hours and I believe caused their site to crash because so many were trying to access it. Anyway...I did not get the kit, but I did start my own project. So far so good- I've got three full scrapbook pages. Here is a little sample of the one of the first pictures I took on Friday Jan. 2nd and my journal entry reads: "Each morning one of the first things I do is make my Starbucks coffee. In the kitchen, next to the sink, I see the temp, my pretty bamboo plant, and a fun penguin that starts my day with a smile." That's it! Take a picture each day and write a little something. Stay tuned for pictures of the 365 scrapbook pages. Here is the link to CK KOTM: http://community.creatingkeepsakes.com/store/category/kit_of_the_month
