Paper Blooms

Hello friends!

I hope you are having a great week. We had two inches of snow here in the St. Louis area. The roads were cleared nicely but it’s cold so the snow is staying a while. Just more time in the studio...

The above card was made for two challenges. One is a Color Challenge with some local friends. We were to use Seaside Spray, Rococo Rose & Sahara Sand. The second is the sketch challenge from The Paper Players.

I used the “free with $50” Sale-a-bration DSP called Paper Blooms. The DSP coordinates perfectly with new Pretty Perennials bundle but I don’t have that (yet) so I die cut a flower from the DSP   Super simple card! I hope you like it

Art Gallery- Swap Card

Hi Friends!

Today’s card features a new suite of products from Stampin’Up called “Fine Art Floral”. This is the same suite as last Wednesday’s card. You’ll be seeing a lot of this product line as I’m demonstrating it in a virtual event hosted by my friend, Sally Nusbaum. I’m busy making lots of samples to showcase. Other demonstrators will be showcasing other new product suites found in the Jan -June mini catalog. Each participant received a box of pre-cut supplies & will stamp along making 9 different cards by the end of the day. It’s a ton of fun. Let me know if you’re interested & I’ll send you a notice for the next event

Anyway... about this card... on a card base of Soft Sea Foam, I stamped the bunch of flowers in opposite corners using Soft Sea Foam ink  Using our Stitched Nested dies, I cut a vellum piece & topped it with a smaller Petal Pink piece that was embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder. On top is the flower bunch stamped in Petal Pink, accented in Flirty Flamingo (on white card stock). All those layers are popped up with dimensionals.

Under the entire panel is the beautiful Fine Art ribbon. A subtle bit of gold adds elegance to any card, don’t you think?  I used the Fine Tip glue to add gems from the Flower for Every Season gems. These are great not only for shaker cards but as embellishments if you have patience & a steady hand. Our new Opal rounds would have looked great but I hadn’t received mine yet.

Regarding those gems, the easiest way I’ve found to put down non-adhesive backed elements is to put a dot of clear liquid glue directly on the card stock where I want the embellishment & then using tweezers, I gently place that embellishment on top of the dot of liquid glue. Set aside to dry. At the discount store, I bought a set of two tweezers & dedicated them to my card making “kit” right along with my scissors.

Happy Birthday!

A BIG Happy Birthday to our daughter, Laura. She turned 30 this past Wednesday & yesterday we celebrated with a small gathering at The Cheesecake Factory, one of her favorite restaurant. It was just our girl, our son-in-law, his parents, his Grandma & Laura's Dad (my husband) and I. We had such a fun time- I haven't been out in quite some time, so it was enjoyable visiting with everyone.

This is the card I made to match with her wrapping paper & I used the Freshly Made Sketches #469.

Here's her presents with the card.

Thanks for stopping by- leave a hello so I know you were here! Until next time...
Stay Healthy & Virtual Hugs, Marilyn

Floral Thinking of You

Hi Friends!
Here's my take on the Cas(e) This Sketch Challenge #404. I have been having a lot of fun creating with this new suite from Stampin' Up called Fine Floral Art.

For my card, I used the gorgeous Fine Art Floral DSP. From one sheet of DSP, two pieces were cut to 4 X 5.25. The two pieces were layered face-to-face & cut twice on a diagonal; measured 2" from the top & bottom to the opposite corner. The card pieces were interchanged & the second card will be made at another time. Layered on a base of Terracotta Tile which was then placed on the card base of Pretty Peacock (although difficult to see).
Thanks for looking! Hugs, Marilyn
